Family Pastor

Growing up in the church and in a strong Christian home, Pastor Steve has always been in and around the church, and that church has been Halethorpe Community Church. Steve has been attending HCC his entire life. Coming out of High School from Western Tech. in Catonsville as a Printing and Graphics Major, Pastor Steve knew that God was calling him to something bigger.

After serving in the Baltimore County Public School System for more than 7 years as a Paraeducator working with special needs students, a job in the ministry finally opened for Steve at 48Live Productions at 95.1 ShineFM as an Event Coordinator. Along with working full time at ShineFM, Pastor Steve is our Pastor of Family Ministries here at HCC focusing mainly on our Middle and High School Youth. He also handles the Children’s Ministry Programs, Vacation Bible School, and most of our outreach events.

Steve has been married to his wife, Cherish, since May of 2015 and they have 3 children, Luke Gregory, Lucy Grace, and Lilly Gwen. He is an avid hometown sports fan, loves going to and working concerts, loves trips to the beach, and spending time with his family. Steve graduated from Lancaster Bible College with a Bachelor of Science in Bible degree in December 2017 and he graduated from Lancaster Bible College | Capital Bible Seminary in May 2021 with his Master’s of Divinity in Pastoral Studies and Master of Arts in Ministry degree. He was also ordained in October 2019 by a committee including our current Lead Pastor, Frank Wray and his child hood Youth Pastor, Kevin Freeman, a moment that he will never forget.

Pastor Steve’s goal is to ignite and mobilize followers of Jesus Christ to go and make disciples following the great commission and the great commandment. He said, “it is time that we get out of the pews, get out of the shirt and ties, and go reach the lost and make Jesus known to the world”. His favorite verse is Joshua 1:9, Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
